The meaning of the word “logistics” derives from the French verb "loger" which means lodge, accommodate, military science expanded the meaning of this expression not only to the accommodation of the army but also to the army’s supply with food, clothes, weapons, ammunition, etc. Logistics was as a science within economics developed mostly in the period from 1950 to 1970 on the basis of experiences the USA had with supplying allies around the world. An expression has been created: “to deliver goods to the customer in right quantity, to the right place, undamaged, fast, reliably and at suitable price”. This motto is true for logistics even today. Understanding logistics as mentality has a central meaning and dominates above other constituent parts of logistics concept. Whereas logistics operative functions, such as transport, warehousing and loading manipulations, exist for a long time, a viewpoint of observing logistics as mentality is a true innovation. Along with marketing and controlling, logistics is a scheme based on the theory which tries to improve business decisions with the integral observation of various relationships in the system. (Logožar, 2002, p. 2). The activity of logistics is therefore, rather new on the market because it was neglected in the past. However, the operation of companies has more often been directed towards logistics in the last few years. Now it is being determined that there are still hidden potentials which can give a huge competing advantage to organisations in this area. In this field JUMA logistics company sees its potential.
