(Shapiro & Heskett) Logistics is a process of strategic management, movement and storage of materials, parts and finished inventory from suppliers via producing company to the final consumers. (Bowersoxs) Organization and performance of integral logistics process or all logistics elements comprises all phases of goods flow between producer and customer which among other things include planning, performing, control and analysis of transport, warehousing and distribution of goods and information connected to goods. In the field of logistics we mostly deal with optimization of flow of goods and information with the purpose to lower logistics costs. If a customer decides to trust the organization and performance of one or several logistics functions (in purchasing or distribution of goods) to outsourcing, we are referring to servicing logistics functions in producing or trading companies.
